Deer Attack!

This fall, I bought several decorative pumpkins in different shapes and colors to create a little autumnal display out by the front gate in anticipation of our annual Thanksgiving party. I stacked the pumpkins around a hay bale with a nifty metal-art turkey as the centerpiece (how am I doing there, Martha Stewart?) and stood back to admire the effect. Too bad I forgot to surround it with explosive devices.

As a loan officer working just outside Houston, Texas, I often have the opportunity to finance property for first-time rural landowners. Many of these customers have moved from rural areas to the city and are now returning to their roots in the country.

In my experience, there are certain common questions and concerns that come up with almost all of my first-time rural landowners, including those who grew up in the country. Just like first-time homebuyers, they often have questions about the financing process. Even more important, they want to know what to do with the land once the purchase is complete.
